We tried with good intent, but wisdom prevailed.

Coming out of the pandemic we had rescheduled our annual fundraiser to November 13. The venue was locked in, food was ordered, invitations sent and tickets paid for. We were ready to roll!

And then reality set in. While our community is dedicated to our Cottage, farming is the lifeblood that makes so many donations possible, and early November is part of the peak harvesting season. Hunting also became a consideration for some, this is the season people wait for all year and no one is changing weather patterns or migratory dates to accommodate our fundraiser. Finally, while we pray that we are in our final stages of the pandemic, we have experienced a recent uptick of new cases in the area.

Nothing would make us happier than to gather in November, but we have made the decision to move the fundraiser to its normally scheduled date in April of 2022. It will be 3 full years between events and we cannot wait to see everyone!

Fundraising still needs to focus on raising funds, but Worthington is very generous to the Sunset Cottage and we will overcome this 2-year hiatus. Any tickets purchased for November’s event will be carried over for the new April 2, 2022 event. Additional tickets will also be available for purchase if you have missed out on the November event ticket sales. For those who sponsored a table for our 2021 fundraiser, thank you! We are honoring your sponsorship for 2022.

The raffle ticket drawings for the purse and dining room table will be held on November 13 at the Forbidden Barrel. Abigail Kor (15) who was previously scheduled to perform at the event will instead play at 1pm, prior to the drawing at 2pm. The winners will be publicly announced and notified directly.

It’s been a tough 18 months for everyone, but we are near the end of our taxing chapter. While it is impossible to know the future with certainty, one thing we are confident of is “together, we will get through this”.
